BitFlow Announces Hardware Bayer Support for Basler's Color Sprint Line Scan Cameras

For Immediate Release

June 08, 2009 - Worburn, MA - BitFlow is pleased to announce that for the first time its Karbon-CL frame grabbers uniquely perform real-time "Bayer" color conversion for Basler's new Sprint color line scan cameras. Anyone that develops color line scan applications with the Basler Sprint color cameras can now capture and process the color data in real time. The Karbon-CL frame grabber performs the Bayer conversion in hardware, eliminating the need for using the CPU to perform conversions post acquisition.

he new Basler Sprint is the fastest color line scan camera on the market. The Basler Sprint color line scan family includes models with resolutions from 2k to 8k pixels, and maximum line rates from 10 kHz to 70 kHz. These extremely high line capture rates and the resulting short integration times require very high sensitivity and a low noise level to achieve excellent image quality.

BitFlow frame grabbers are the fastest and most capable frame grabbers in the world, with the highest camera to frame grabber densities in the industry. For example, the Karbon-CL4 is capable of capturing from two 8k color Sprint cameras at their full 80 MHz pixel clock, and processing the color data from both cameras at the same time. No CPU cycles are needed for color conversion of for the DMA of images to host memory.

The BitFlow Karbon-CL supports all of the monochrome Basler Sprint cameras as well. The monochrome Sprint line scan models have resolutions from 2k to 8k pixels and maximum line rates from 20 kHz to 140 kHz, making them the fastest monochrome line scan cameras available.

Together the Basler Sprint cameras and BitFlow Karbon-CL frame grabbers are perfect for use in applications such as Web Inspection (wood, paper, foil, etc.), Surface Inspection (printed circuit boards, flat panels and displays, semiconductors), Document Scanning / Postal Sorting / Currency, and Food Inspection.

For those who wish to develop their own industrial applications, BitFlow has an advanced SDK that makes it easy to control every aspect of real time image capture. BitFlow also provides Cognex VisionPro, MVTec HALCON, and other 3rd party software drivers to their customers at no cost.
