Applications Engineer

BitFlow is looking for an Applications Engineer to support its worldwide customer base. The position requires interacting with customers via email and phone (and sometimes in person). Strong programming skills are required as much of the time will be supporting customer’s application development. The position requires working with a wide range of high-speed, high-resolution electronic cameras as well as the companies that design and make them. The candidate will work closely with BitFlow’s engineers to both understand our products as well as solve customer’s problems. The candidate will also work closely with BitFlow’s sales team to maximize their combined effectiveness during both the pre and post sales cycles.

The ideal candidate will be an energetic and resourceful engineer that can adapt to the constantly changing demands of BitFlow’s diverse customer base. One day the candidate could be supporting a scientist looking at DNA in California, the next day supporting a semiconductor engineer in Japan. This is an exciting and challenging position, it requires a high level of problem solving skills, the ability to think quickly on your feet, all the while maintaining an extremely professional relationship with the customer.

BitFlow’s customers are all over the world, but we feel the most efficient way to support them is from the home office. However, there are some situations where the only solution is going to the customer and seeing what is really going on. Therefore this position will require some domestic and international travel (~10% of the time).

The following are required:

B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineer or Computer Science
Three or more years of experience working in Electrical or Computer Engineering
Proficiency in C and C++
Experience with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Visual Studio
Reside within commuting distance of BitFlow’s Woburn, MA, USA office
Not be afraid to open up a PC and start pulling things apart (and putting them back together)

The following skills will be very helpful:

Experience in the Machine Vision industry
Familiarity with LabView, Vision Pro and other Machine Vision applications
Experience with Linux
Familiarity with the oscilloscopes, cable diagrams, logic analyzers, etc.
An understanding of electrical communications protocols

BitFlow has been in business for 26 years, yet the work environment is small and vibrant, it has all the excitement of start-up without the risk.
